MN1 Application - Registration As British Citizen On The Basis Of Either Parent Getting ILR After Child's Birth In The UK
You can register to become a British citizen if you fulfil all of the following criteria:
An application for registration as a British Citizen by a child under 18 is made using application form MN1. This is a very common way of registering children as British Citizens as all immigrants whose children are born in the UK before one of the parents get Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) can register their children as British Citizens as soon as either parent acquires ILR status. There is no requirement to wait for 12 months after the grant of ILR to the parent(s) for the child to be registered as British Citizen.
There is no requirement in the Nationality laws for the child to have lawful visa status in the UK at the time of making an application for registration as a British Citizen under this category. It is very common under this category that an application for registration as a British Citizen is made without the child having to apply for leave to remain or Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) and being registered as British Citizen as soon as either parent of the child getting ILR.
